Accuracy Competition Rules

The object of the competition is to BASE jump the designated object with a BASE specific parachute system, deploy your parachute and land on your feet as close as you can or on the designated spot. The target will be designated in a dartboard configuration as follows:

Centre bulls eye 10cm diameter 10 points
Outer bulls eye 50cm diameter 7 points
Inner circle 2m diameter 5 points
Middle circle 4m diameter 3 points
Outer circle 6m diameter 1 point

The one with the largest accumulated score over all rounds is judged to be the winner.

For the competition you must use a closed container pack job with no slider in use. We would recommend using a vented canopy. Deployment method is by jumpers discretion (S/L, PCA, hand held or stowed) EXCEPT if the conditions are deemed by the organising committee to be unsuitable for free fall jumps then PCA's will be designated as the deployment method. There are no aerobatics or multi ways allowed during competition rounds.

You must wear a minimum protection of a hard shell helmet. Any further extension of your personal body armour is up to you and is, of course, recommended.

There will be the same exit point and target location for every jumper during each round. Target placement will depend on exit point, landing safety and obstacles, and will be placed to allow maximum success by all jumpers. The organisation committee has still the right to vary the exit point after any completed round.

The approach will be steep, so you need to know how to land a BASE canopy in deep brakes. This is intended to create a reasonable challenge for a UK Pro BASE Champion.

Weather or wind holds during the competition will be at the discretion of the organising committee.

The competition will be held over 4 rounds with the organising committee’s discretion to call the meet successful after 2 complete rounds if forced by adverse weather or other circumstances.

After jump protests because of unacceptable conditions are not permitted. If you are not happy with the weather, set-up of the object or target placement then you must inform a member of the organising committee before you jump.

The target will be a circle with 6m diameter (3m radius) on tarpaulin pegged to the ground. Scoring is achieved by the placement of the first point of landing. Scoring will be awarded according to the higher score achieved by the placement of the first point of landing if that placement is on the border between two scoring zones.

A point of landing is defined the first contact on the ground with any part of the body.

All landings will be scored ONLY if the competitors first point of contact is by foot, stays standing throughout the duration of the landing AND does not travel outside the outer 6m diameter circle. Ground contact with anything other than the feet and any travel outside the 6m diameter circle will result in a score of 0 points. It is the responsibility of the competitor to show a complete halt within the 6m diameter circle to the scoring judge.

Any kind of mid-air contact (the canopy or jumper touches an object or a technical structure which is not the ground) followed by a score, is up to the scoring judge how they interpret the control of the situation.

Any kind of blind ambition and/or lack of control will be registered by the scoring judge and/or the organising committee. If it is considered dangerous you will be warned symbolically with a yellow card. A yellow card will mean you will score 0 points for that round. If you continue to disrespect the warning you will be disqualified from the competition with a red card by the organising committee.

It is permitted to change containers and canopies during the competition as long as you stay within acceptable parameters. Any change of equipment is acceptable as long as the equipment has been cleared prior to the event by the organising committee. Any subsequent change is subject to scrutiny by the organising committee.

Any kind of disrespect towards the rules, scoring judge or organising committee will lead to an immediate red card. We hope we will not to be forced to use any penalty card at all.

If you feel treated or scored unfairly you must submit a protest to a member of the organising committee before the next round is started. The organising committee and scoring judge will discuss your protest. If your protest is upheld you will get a one time re-scoring of your jump or the opportunity of a re-jump at the discretion of the organising committee. Re-jumps will be sanctioned by the organising committee only when absolutely necessary.

If you miss your slot in the present round you will score 0 points for that round. If you stop jumping completely during the competition for whatever reason your score will be frozen at that point.

In the event of a tie the placing will be determined by the higher score in the first scoring round. In the event of a subsequent tie the placing will be determined by the higher score in the recorded practice round. A final jump off may be approved by the organising committee in extenuating circumstances.

Protests/re-jumps notwithstanding, the judge's final decision is FINAL.

The organising committee has the right to approve the overall performance of every jumper. If it is not of the standard required by the object and competition the jumper will be grounded.

The Final round will be jumped in reverse order to the position on the scoreboard.
