Event Report: Crane Boogie 2007

Crane Boogie 2007

As stage 2 of our growth we organised an open-invite event. This gave more jumpers the chance to participate in our activities and for us to show the jumping community what we could offer. It also gave us the chance to operate a busier schedule and fine-tune our event-management skills and Operations Manual.

A big, open grassy field, a 300’ crane, great weather and 50 BASE jumpers. More than 400 jumps done, with no accidents, injuries or significant incidents.

I just wanted to say thanks to Max and Dave and everyone else who helped to organise another good weekend at the crane. I had a top time doing lots of new stuff. There was a good atmosphere and the cage we had this time made a lot of jumps much easier to do. It was also good seeing people with low jump numbers get the chance to practice their skills, learn and make new friends.

Thanks to Max, Dave and everyone else behind the scenes for organising a well run and incident free event. They struck a nice blend of safety without being restrictive. Lets hope this will lead to bigger and better things for the future.

What a cracking weekend. Yes I was wrong about the weather. Yes I was wrong about it being a festival of death! Good job I convinced myself to go. I was really impressed by the whole thing and everyone there.

I thought the whole do was truly magnificent. Max, Dave, Andy, Pete & the wonderful Nicole took a really big risk (financially and timewise) and we all owe them big time. I really enjoyed the whole thing and meeting everyone there. There was lots of scope for things to go wrong, but many ballsy and challenging jumps were done with a very high standard of judgement from both the jumpers and the organisers.

Well, it seems that the Germans are finally welcome again on the Island! Frank and I had a blast and would like to thank everyone for making this a memorable weekend. Hope to see you all again some day.!
