Event Report: Thorpe Park

Thorpe Park

In April 2008, UK Pro BASE directors Max Hurd and Dave Moores jumped from the roller-coaster, "Stealth" at Thorpe Park, London, England. This is one of the UK’s leading theme parks, and the 60 metre high ride is one of the park’s centrepieces. Using custom-built parachutes displaying the Thorpe Park logo, two jumps were made with pin-point landings for the press photographers below.

With UK theme parks operating one of the strictest Health and Safety regimes in industry, the preparation for this event was painstaking and thorough. 3 months of consultation between UK Pro BASE and Thorpe Park’s in-house engineering, H+S team and management produced a bespoke risk assessment and method statement package detailing every aspect of the jumps.

"It's been an absolute pleasure working with Max and Dave at UK Pro BASE for the first ever rollercoaster BASE jump. Their attitude and professionalism towards the jump and our Health and Safety procedures were impeccable, and it was an incredible spectacle - well worth the effort! Cheers guys."
Gareth Arculus, Thorpe Park, London.
